Nanowrimo Eve & Halloween
Today is Nanowrimo Eve and when midnight rolls around the clock will begin ticking. I still have utterly no clue what my novel will be about. I don’t want to over complicate my storyline because then it will just make writing more difficult. I’m excited to write it on FastPencil. Ever since my husband discovered that website I’ve been hooked. It’s so incredibly easy to use and make writing not so intimidating. If you’re doing Nanowrimo then I recommend you sign up on Fast Pencil to write your novel so that once you hit that incredible 50K marker and win, obtaining your completion certificate, you can get a free paperback copy of your novel from Fast Pencil. Check out more details on their website. I find that an awesome incentive to participate and use Fast Pencil.
Not only is it Nanowrimo Eve, but it’s Halloween. I’ve never been a huge fan of Halloween. Part of me finds it somewhat evil, but then there is great fun in dressing up and being who you wish you could be for one day. It’s the imaginative person’s day of days. I’ve dressed up as an assortment of people throughout the years. As a kid I dressed up as a witch, Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ, Punky Brewster, a hippy, probably a ballerina when I was really little. I haven’t dressed up in years. Last year I wanted to dress 100% EMO for fun. To be the total opposite of what I am normally. To get to dress all in black, wear laced up combat boots, the dark lipstick and white face. I don’t know what it is, but there’s this alluring factor to wanting to dress goth. To hide behind dark clothing and hide behind black lipstick. Maybe enjoying Avril Lavgine has something to do with it. I think I just missed out on my classical goth rebellious phase growing up.
Today I’m spending time watching Wine Library TV. I’m not a wine drinker really, but the way Gary describes wine is worth watching. His facial expressions and descriptions are hilarious and extremely entertaining. Getting to meet Gary in person this past Monday was a big treat and thrill for both my husband and myself. He’s very engaging and inspiring.
I’m going to try and sneak in one more book for the month of October. I’m in the middle of Me & the River by Carrie Host. What a gorgeously written book. It’s a memoir of a cancer survivor. I love how she compares dealing with cancer like being tossed into a river and how she treads her way out. It’s definitely a keeper. I’ll have to hunt down my own copy.

Tonight I got to go listen to Gary Vaynerchuk speak at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe. What a treat it was from start to finish. The amount of energy Gary expels is contagious. He makes you want to rise up and be the best you can possibly be, not only in business, but also, in your personal life.

I have no plan either! I have two scenes that seem, at glance, unrelated, and also a setting. (Verona, Italy. Perhaps I ought to research it a bit more today …)
Halloween can be much fun; I dressed up as Galadriel from Lord of the Rings this year.
